Shooting Stars

Maybe we feign astonishment,
When a star breaks away from cosmos,
Descends; and disappears into
the dark sky.
Taking with it our deepest
desires,
The ones we had wished for;
In the stillness of the night,
Never to be witnessed again.
Yet, the shooting star is believed
to be more majestic,
When contrasted with the ones
the sky still hold.
If we can love broken galaxies,
Why can’t we love broken
humans?
